Two filigree hearts set with green cabochons open this necklace on a chunky gold chain, leading down to its sovereign: a crowned dark bust in the old moretto tradition, flanked and founded by three enormous faceted green crystals. Green teardrops swing at either side, and below everything hangs a small enameled crest with a single pearl.

Jewelry as court portrait – the court just happens to be imaginary, and richer for it.
